Between April 12 and April 26, the Express Entry pool grew by only 897 profiles—a staggering 60% drop compared to the previous period’s growth of 2,193. While a slower-growing pool usually sounds like good news, the reality is more complex.
The competition is concentrating at the top. The 501–600 CRS score range saw an increase of 250 profiles, marking a trend of “score inflation” that applicants in the GCC must address immediately.

Despite fewer people entering the pool, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws have seen reduced volumes. The most recent draw on April 28 issued only 2,000 invitations at a CRS cut-off of 514.
The “backlog” is evident in the tie-breaking rules. IRCC had to reach back to September 2025 to clear the 514-score bracket. This means if your score is hovering around the 500-mark, you are currently in a high-pressure zone where timing is just as important as your points.
