The AEWV enables skilled migrants to live and work in New Zealand for employers accredited by Immigration New Zealand (INZ). Accredited employers must meet strict labour and market standards to ensure fair workplaces and legal compliance.
Major AEWV Changes for 2025
1. Wage Requirements
The median wage requirement has been removed. Employers must pay at least the New Zealand minimum wage (NZD $23.50 per hour from 1 April 2025) and meet the current market rate for the role.

2. Work Experience
Required relevant experience is now 2 years (reduced from 3 years).
3. ANZSCO to NOL Transition
Starting in November 2025, 91 occupations will be classified under the National Occupation List (NOL). Review your occupation code to confirm eligibility, visa duration, and family sponsorship options.
4. Longer Visas for Lower-Skilled Roles
ANZSCO/NOL Level 4–5 roles now qualify for up to 3-year visas.
5. Increased Income for Family Sponsorship
AEWV holders must earn at least NZD $55,844/year to sponsor partners or children.
